Privacy Policy
Theme Park Shark Bites Privacy Policy
The short version
- You can browse, search and save food without creating an account.
- If you post a review or photo, it is checked before it goes public. Approved reviews show your display name.
- Your location stays on your phone. It is only used to show the nearest park and food near you.
- There are no ads, no ad tracking, no analytics or crash-reporting tools, and we never sell or share your personal information for advertising.
- You can delete your account and your content from inside the app at any time.
Who we are
Theme Park Shark Bites is made by Dustin Sparage, doing business as Theme Park Shark ("Theme Park Shark", "we", "us"). Questions or privacy requests: support@themeparkshark.com.
What we collect and why
Things you give us
- Account details (optional). If you create an account: your email address, a password (stored only as a secure hash by our sign-in provider) and the display name you choose. If you use Sign in with Apple: a private Apple identifier and the email Apple shares with us, which can be an Apple relay address. Used to sign you in and keep your saves and reviews with your account.
- Profile (optional). Display name, home park and food preferences such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free or nut-free. Food preferences can reveal health-related details such as an allergy, so they are only used to filter food for you and are never shown publicly.
- Reviews. Your rating, written review, visit date and any photos you choose to add.
- Photos. Only the photos you pick or take for a review or a food report. The app never uploads the rest of your library. Photos are resized and re-saved before upload; the re-saved copy does not keep the photo's location data.
- Food reports. When you tap "I just ate this" or report a problem: the food, restaurant and park, the time, the kind of report, your note and any evidence photos.
- Saved food and restaurants. Your saved list, so it follows your account.
- Safety reports and blocks. Reviews or photos you report, the reason, and reviewers you block.
- Support messages. Whatever you send to our support email.
Things created automatically
- Account ID. When the app connects to our service it creates a guest account ID, even if you never sign up, so your saves and reports belong to you. Signing up keeps the same data under your named account.
- Install ID. A random ID created by the app on first launch. It is sent with food reports to stop spam and duplicate reports. It is not your Apple advertising ID and is not used for ads.
- Technical request data. Like any internet service, our hosting providers receive your IP address and basic request information when the app talks to them. We do not use it to find your location or build a profile of you.
Things we do not collect
- Your GPS location (it never leaves your phone), contacts, browsing history, search history, payment details or your Apple advertising identifier.
- No analytics, advertising or crash-reporting software is built into the app. If that changes, this policy and the App Store privacy label will be updated first.
Location
Location is optional. If you tap the location button and allow access, the app uses your position on your phone to pick the closest park and sort nearby food. Your coordinates are not sent with reviews, reports, saves or shares. A park you pick for a review or report is part of that content. You can turn location off any time in iOS Settings > Theme Park Bites > Location.
What other people can see
Reviews and photos are private until they are approved. Once approved, other users can see your display name, profile picture if you have one, rating, review text, visit date and approved photos. Food report notes, evidence photos, your email, your food preferences and your saved list are never public. The app may show an anonymous signal such as "recently confirmed available" built from reports, without your name, notes or photos.
How we use information
- To run the app: sign-in, saves, reviews, photos, food reports and your profile.
- To keep the community safe: checking reviews and photos before they go public, handling reports and blocks, and stopping spam and abuse.
- To keep menus accurate using food reports.
- To answer support requests and handle account deletion.
- To follow the law and protect users and the app.
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it to show you ads.
Who we share it with
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in, file storage and server functions in its cloud data centers.
- Apple, if you use Sign in with Apple, and for app distribution.
- Expo delivers app updates. It receives technical request data such as your IP address and app version, not your account details.
- Our email provider receives support emails you send us.
- Other users see your approved reviews and photos as described above.
- Legal and safety: if required by law, or to protect someone's safety or our rights. If the app or Theme Park Shark is ever sold or merged, information may move with it under this policy.
These providers process information on our behalf to run the app.
Content and links from other sites
Some menu photos and information come from other websites and are loaded from those sites, which then receive your IP address. Links to official park apps, menus or videos open services that have their own privacy policies.
How long we keep it
- Account, profile, saves, reviews and photos: while your account exists, or until you delete them.
- When you delete your account: your account, profile, saves, reviews, photos and food reports are removed from our active systems when the deletion finishes.
- A small set of records may be kept for up to 24 months after deletion where needed for safety, abuse prevention or the law: a record that the deletion happened, moderation decisions, and reports about content that broke our rules.
- Backup copies expire on their normal schedule, within 30 days.
- Data saved on your phone stays there until you remove it in the app or delete the app.
Deleting your account
Open the You tab > Account > Delete account. Deletion needs an internet connection. If it gets interrupted, the app lets you continue the same request. If you used Sign in with Apple, we also ask Apple to remove the app's access to your Apple account; you can check this in iOS Settings > your name > Sign-In & Security > Sign in with Apple. You can also email us to delete your account.
Your choices and rights
- Edit or delete a review from the food's page. Edit your profile in the app.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it by emailing support@themeparkshark.com from your account email. We answer within 30 days.
- Location and photo access can be changed any time in iOS Settings.
- Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have extra rights, including to object to or restrict some uses. We will not treat you differently for using them. Where those laws apply, we rely on providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interest in keeping the community safe, and your consent (for example when you allow photo or location access).
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not create an account or post. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
Information travels over encrypted connections. Database access rules only let you change your own data, and photos waiting for review are stored privately. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Where information is processed
Theme Park Shark is based in the United States, and information is processed in the United States.
Changes
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect, and tell you in the app for important changes.
